0735 am
In my dad's car to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. Once again driving on the familiar road to Schenker, but this time my destination was TMFT. The terminal looks pretty much like budget terminal. lol..Not many shops and only 1 kopitiam. There were many ppl early in the morning. Mostly tourists like Caucasians. Some Japanese and Singaporeans.
0835 am
Collecting our boarding pass and queuing up to enter customs. Started to feeL dizzy when we reached the floating platform preparing to board the ferry. It was even shaky sitting in the ferry.
0905 am
The ferry embarked on its journey to Bintan. An hour ride to Bintan. On its way, we passed by city hall (cos I saw those high-rise office buildings)
1005 am
By right, the time in Bintan shd be 0905 am cos Indonesia time is 1 hr behind us. Reached Bintan ferry
terminal. The terminal looks even older but has its own unique architectural structure. It incorporates South-East Asian design. Those sharp pointed building structure.
It's also kind of funny that we didn't know that we need to fill up the arrival form.Sounds stupid of us not to realise that. We boarded the hotel shuttle bus to our hotel - Nirwana Resort!!
1100 am
Upon reaching the resort, we were greeted with warm welcome from the local band and dancers at the entrance and were also given a glass of ginger drink
perhaps to smoothe our sea-sickness.
1120 am
We boarded the hotel transport to our first activity ( Go-Kart) location. It was a 10 mins ride. Along the highway, there wasn't much to see, just green fields. We passes some man-made structures such as the straw huts near the hotel entrance ( btw it was a long way from the hotel main lobby to its entrance) and Orang Utan structures. When we reached our destination, there was a small building painted in black-white checkered box standing on the top of the hill. Right before the building was a short but winding track. Initially, I thought the track was connected to the bottom of the hill. However, after driving the first rd, much to my disappointment, I realised that we could only circle ard the track for 30 mins continuously. To me, it wasn't pretty much interesting as I am not particularly excited abt driving fast ard the same track for half an hr. There were only 4 guys and me using the track on that morning. Guess only the guys enjoyed it alot. Even the youngest guy beat me to it. They were constantly zooming passed me fast and furious.
1230 pm
Finished with our "warm-up". We proceeded to our next activity - All Terrain Vehicles (ATV). There were 2 basically 2 types of vehicles - a motorbike and a motorcar. The motorbike only allows single driver while the motorcar has 2
passengers seats ( 1 driver & 1 passenger). YC and I chose the motorcar. We had abit of fright in the beginning when the engine suddenly stalled and we almost ran up into bushes, right before we had to cross a steep slope. For the first half of the journey, the path was very bumpy and full of mud! Haa.. We drove across what seem like forest where everywhere was surrounded by tall trees, huge stones and big pool of mud water.
Throughout the first half of the journey, we encountered 3 nerve-wrecking but hilarious incidents. I had already mentioned the first one. The second one happened when yc swerved to avoid the pool of mud water and we ended up in bushes. This time, we needed help from the guide and yc's buddy to move our car out of the bushes. Some of the paths were wide but filled with mud, some were uneven, some were narrow and winding. We drove across bridges that were made of tree-trucks. Feeling nervous sitting inside the car with no door and no bar to hold on too, I clutched tightly to my untied seat belt and my pouch till its handle gave way. I keep emphasising to dear to slow down and maintain his accelerator. Luck wasn't with us when we ran into bushes again for the 3rd time. Having changed our vehicle for the second time, we took off again to complete the first half of the journey, which took us an hr. Then, we had a short break in the hut facing a lake, sipping our coconut drink and taking some photos. I took over for the return journey. It was much more easier to drive on wide & even road, except for the muddy areas where I couldn't bother to avoid the muddy areas as it was difficult to control the steering wheel. As a result, we were splashed with mud all over our bodies. There were a few times when we stopped and took some photos. We even came close to the Bintan Ferry Terminal where we took photos of it in the backgrd.0420 pm
We walked over to Nirwana Beach Club to play kayaking at the beach. The sands were very fine like those in Sentosa. The waves were much stronger than those in East Coast. My boat capsized once when it was facing sideways when the waves came. It was a beautiful afternoon. The weather was cooling. After kayaking for ard an hr, we sat and chatted at the shore, allowing the waves to wash over us.
0720 pm
We took the hotel transport to a little village - Oleh Oleh, to do a full body massage and had dinner. The village was really very small, even smaller than the size of Sunplaza Park. The shophouses formed the perimeter of the village. The massage shop provided alot of different kinds of services eg. haircut, foot reflexology, spa and dinner. The full body massage was fantastic! The massager used sandalwood to help us massage from head to toe. It took us an hr before we could have our dinner. Much to our dismay, the food sucks!! Lol..
Looking up at the starry night, it was a beautiful sight. it has been such a long time since i gazed at stars. The last time that i saw it was during my sec 3 camp, where I could still vividly that the night sky at Sentosa was glittered with stars. Right here in this rural area, away from home, the stars seem brighter and closer than before. ( I was looking up at the night sky in Oleh Oleh.)
11 00 pm
We gave up the idea of going to the beach party and headed for our room due to unforeseen circumstances.
End of 1st Day~

0800 am
Strolling along the beach alone, the cooling sea breeze, the rippling of the waves, the bright blue sky and the cheerful morning greetings from the pool staffs lifted up my spirit. The best thing there was that u can enjoy all this just by lying on the hammock - the one and only one in nirwana.
For the rest of the day, we just spent swimming in the swimming pool, relaxing at the jacuzzi corner or playing boardgames. Lol.. Cant help it cos it was raining. I like the view of the swimming pool where it faces the sea best.
Bintan is actually not a bad recreation and leisure place to go to, If u want somewhere nt far away from home to relax and enjoy water activities. Furthermore, u save the hassle of exchanging currency cos it is all dealt in SGD. But things can also be much expensive than that in S'pore.
P.S. I actually started writing this blog at the end of 2007 but could only finish it by 10.01.2008. Haha.. partly becos I was too busy wrking and my laptop got virus! I will upload the photos when dale rembs to send it to me. =)
